Academic Estimates of the Requirements for Activating the Role of International Social Work in Achieving Sustainable Development

Abstract

This study aims to identify academic estimates of the requirements of activating the role of international social service in achieving sustainable development from the point of view of social service professors in Libyan universities. The importance of the study stems from the growing role of the international social service in addressing social issues with a global dimension and contributing to supporting development efforts linked to the Sustainable Development Goals.

The study was based on the descriptive analytical method, and the questionnaire was used as a key data collection tool. It was applied to an intentional sample of (30) faculty members from social work departments at the University of Tripoli, the University of Sabratha, and Al-Zawiya University.

The results of the study showed agreement among the respondents on the growing importance of the role of international social service in supporting sustainable development paths, through the promotion of scientific and professional cooperation and exchange of experiences at the international level. The results also revealed the need to develop international social service curricula in Libyan universities, and update the training and research frameworks associated with them to keep pace with global social transformations.

The study recommends the need to strengthen the international dimension in social service education programs and to develop curricula and training programs to contribute to the preparation of professional cadres capable of contributing effectively to the achievement of sustainable development goals.).
