Abstract

The problem of the study was represented in identifying the effect of digital transformation and its importance in supporting the dimensions of sustainable development in a Libyan institution, namely the University of Zawia. The study also aimed to identify the dimensions of sustainable development and explore their reflection on Libyan universities, with particular focus on the University of Zawia as the study sample.

This study adopted the descriptive analytical approach. A random sample consisting of (322) respondents representing the study population of faculty members at the Faculty of Science was selected. A questionnaire was distributed to them as a tool for data collection.

The study findings revealed that the level of digital transformation in supporting sustainable development was low. The results also showed that the level of both digital transformation and the dimensions of sustainable development ranged from low to moderate according to the respondents’ perspectives. Furthermore, the results indicated a positive statistically significant effect of digital transformation in supporting the dimensions of sustainable development, suggesting that enhancing digital transformation tools contributes to improving institutional performance and supporting efforts toward achieving sustainable development.

In light of these results, the study recommends strengthening the adoption of digital transformation applications within institutions by developing digital infrastructure, providing training and qualification for human resources, and adopting effective digital strategies that contribute to supporting the dimensions of sustainable development and achieving comprehensive development.
