The Use of Historical Heritage in the Poetry of Ali Sidqi Abdul Qadir

Abstract

Utilizing historical heritage in modern poetry has been a fertile aspect, as it has become a vital link between the poet and his readers. Therefore, the use of historical heritage is not absolutely targeted, but it is considered as a suggestive tool employed by the poet, who selects the appropriate from the heritage through which he can express his contemporary experiences. The reason for choosing the title "The Use of Historical Heritage in the Poetry of Ali Sidqi Abdul Qadir" is the frequent presence of historical figures and places in his poetry making this phenomenon worthy of research and study. The research problem lies in the extent of the poet's ability to employ heritage in his poetry. The research aims to reveal the degree to which the poet can utilize historical figures and places in his poetry. The research used descriptive and analytical methods due to their ability to delve into and analyze the depths of poetic texts. It also enabled the use of the historical method to retrieve some historical events and figures. Among the most important findings of the research is the poet's ability to employ artistic and psychological values ​​in his contemporary experiences, and projecting those characters and places onto lived reality. The research was divided into two sections: the first was entitled: Employing historical figures and places, and the second was entitled: Motives for employing historical heritage. The research was concluded by the results and a list of research footnotes.
