Publication Policy and Standards of the Academy Journal for Humanities and Social Sciences

Instructions for Authors

To be considered for publication in the Academy Journal for Humanities and Social Sciences, the submitted work must generally meet the following criteria:

  • Be of significance to researchers in the field.

  • Be of interest to researchers in other related disciplines.

  • Demonstrate progress in creativity and innovation, adding scientific value to the cumulative body of knowledge.

Manuscript Preparation

The following elements must be included:

Article Title

Abstract

Keywords

All submitted manuscripts must include a title, abstract, and keywords in both English and Arabic.
The manuscript must contain all essential research components.
It must be formatted in Microsoft Word.

Formatting Requirements:

  • Manuscripts should be assembled in the following order for initial submission: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Main Text, References, Appendices (if any).

  • Tables and figures may be embedded within the main text or included separately at the end with clear captions. In either case, figures must be high-resolution.

  • The maximum word count for a manuscript is 8,000 words, including the abstract, references, tables, figures, and appendices. Each table or figure counts as 250 words.

  • Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format.

Abstract:

  • All manuscripts must include a structured abstract not exceeding 350 words, organized as follows: Objective, Methodology, Results, Conclusion.

  • Each manuscript must include at least four keywords.

  • Section headings should be concise.

  • The text must not contain any direct or indirect information identifying the authors or their affiliations. Author details should be provided separately on the title page.

AI-Generated Content:

  • Any use of AI tools must be clearly documented in the Methods section.

  • Except for tools assisting with spelling, punctuation, phrasing, and formatting, authors bear full responsibility for the final text and must confirm that edits reflect their original work.

Title Page

The title page must include:

  • Article title

  • Authors' names (in agreed order)

  • Affiliations (institution, department, city, country)

  • Active email address of the corresponding author

  • All qualifying authors must be listed with full names, affiliations, and email addresses.

  • Individuals who have made a substantial contribution should be listed as co-authors.

  • The corresponding author must be designated by all co-authors, and the order of names must be agreed upon.

Manuscript Formatting:

  • Line spacing: 1.5

  • Font size:

    • Arabic manuscripts: 14 (Simplified Arabic)

    • Non-Arabic manuscripts: 12 (Times New Roman)

  • Title font size:

    • Arabic manuscripts: 16

    • Non-Arabic manuscripts: 14

  • Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.

  • Preferred format: Microsoft Word or compatible.

Citation Style:

  • In-text citations and references must follow APA style.

Responsibilities of the Corresponding Author

The author group must designate a corresponding author who will act on behalf of all authors throughout submission, review, and publication. The corresponding author must:

  • Submit the manuscript and related files to the journal, ensuring all co-authors:

    • Are listed in the author list.

    • Appear in the agreed order.

    • Are aware of and consent to the submission and final version.

  • Handle all journal communications, including responding to reviewer comments.

  • After acceptance, distribute the final proof to co-authors and respond to the journal on their behalf.

  • Ensure accuracy of the final version, including correct author names, affiliations, and contact details.

  • Serve as the primary contact for post-publication inquiries.

  • Treat all journal communications as confidential.

Submission Requirements

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm:

  • The work has been approved for publication by all authors.

  • The manuscript has not been previously published and is not under review elsewhere.

  • Authors take full responsibility for the article's content.

  • The article contains no defamatory or unlawful statements and does not violate others' rights.

Authorship Criteria

Authors must collectively take responsibility for their work. Authorship should reflect individual contributions to both the research and reporting of results. A person qualifies as an author if they meet all the following criteria:

  • Made a significant contribution to research conception, design, data collection, analysis, or interpretation.

  • Drafted or critically revised the manuscript for intellectual content.

  • Approved the final version for publication.

  • Funding acquisition, data collection, or general supervision alone does not justify authorship.

  • If a multi-author paper is based on a student thesis, the student must be the lead author.

  • If a supervisor declines authorship, their role should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section.

Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest, including:

  • Sources of research funding (financial support, equipment, materials).

  • The role of funders/sponsors in research design, execution, or reporting.

  • Any financial or non-financial interests that could influence result interpretation.

  • Authors must also disclose any editorial or reviewing relationship with the journal.

Originality & Expression

Editors and readers trust that submitted work is original, authored and written by the submitter—not plagiarized or taken from others without permission or proper citation.

Ethical Obligations

Authors must uphold the highest ethical standards, ensuring:

  • The research was conducted ethically and legally.

  • The work is genuine, accurate, and carefully executed.

  • Appropriate methods were used for data analysis and presentation.

  • The manuscript was reviewed at all stages to ensure accuracy in methods, results, and documentation.

Honesty & Integrity

Researchers must:

  • Present true and accurate results without data manipulation.

  • Follow the journal’s writing and citation guidelines.

  • Provide sufficient methodological details for verification and replication.

  • Report complete results, even if they contradict hypotheses or funder interests.

  • Notify editors immediately if errors are discovered post-submission or post-publication.

  • Properly cite others' work.

Special Notes:

  • Avoid agreements allowing funders to control publication outcomes.

  • Do not use private information without written consent.

Balance

Researchers should:

  • Present new findings that build on prior research.

  • Clearly state study limitations.

  • Avoid personal opinions; focus on scientific methodology.

Originality

  • Submit original work not published or under review elsewhere.

  • Acknowledge prior similar studies.

  • Follow copyright laws for tables/figures.

  • Cite related works and previous studies.

Special Notes:

  • If the manuscript results from a specific project, this must be stated.

  • Avoid salami publishing (splitting one study into multiple papers).

  • Do not submit the same manuscript to multiple journals.

Confidentiality

Editors must ensure:

  • Permission is obtained for publishing sensitive data/images.

  • Published images do not identify research participants.

Special Issues/Sponsored Publications

If the journal publishes special issues or funded supplements, funding goals must align with the journal’s mission, including:

  • Clear conflict-of-interest disclosures.

  • Acknowledgment of non-author contributions.

  • Transparent content selection and review processes.

  • Disclosure of funder and editorial affiliations.

Plagiarism & Fabrication

Plagiarism includes using others' ideas, text, or data without attribution. If plagiarism is detected:

  • The manuscript is rejected immediately.

  • If discovered post-publication, the journal may retract the paper or issue corrections.

  • Reviewers should report suspected plagiarism.

Duplicate Publication

Submitting the same work (or significant parts) to multiple journals is unacceptable, unless:

  • Editors agree it enhances academic discourse.

  • Written permission is obtained from the original copyright holder.

  • The source is properly cited.

Defamation & Free Speech

While the journal supports free expression, it prohibits harmful or defamatory statements against individuals, groups, or institutions.

Image Manipulation & Fraud

  • Altering images to misrepresent results leads to rejection.

  • Original images must be used unless modifications are clearly justified.

Research Fraud & Misconduct

The journal ensures research complies with ethical standards. If fraud, fabrication, or plagiarism is found:

  • Corrections or retractions are issued.

  • Authors are notified formally.

Data Transparency

Authors must:

  • Maintain accurate records supporting their findings.

  • Provide data upon request for verification.

Research Record Integrity

The journal preserves all published materials without undue alterations. Each paper includes:

  • Full author details.

  • Complete research findings.

Editorial Communication

Authors' Duties

Research Reporting Standards

Authors must provide:

  • An accurate description of their work.

  • An objective discussion of its significance.

  • Sufficient references for scientific rigor.

Data Retention

Authors should retain research records; editors may request original data.

Acknowledgment of Sources

  • Cite prior research influencing the study.

  • Document all referenced works.

Authorship

  • Authorship is limited to those with substantial contributions (conceptualization, design, execution, interpretation).

  • Others may be acknowledged in the "Acknowledgments" section.

Ethical Compliance

Authors must ensure accuracy, integrity, and originality. If violations occur, they must correct issues before publication.

Corresponding Author Responsibilities

  • Manages manuscript correspondence.

  • Must have full authorization from co-authors.

  • Keeps co-authors informed.
