Nalut University students' attitudes toward volunteer work.

: A field study at Nalut University colleges in Nalut

Abstract

     The aim of this research is to reveal the attitudes of university youth towards practicing volunteer work and the status of the latter in their mentalities, because of its importance in shaping their personalities to benefit from them after they acquire experiences and skills in the field of volunteer work, and invest in the labor market in what.

For this purpose, a random sample of (62) individuals was taken from third-year male and female students in the three faculties of Nalut University, Medical Technology, Education, and Law in the city of Nalut. Using the advantages of the descriptive analytical approach and the capabilities of the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences program (SPSS) to achieve reliable results. This includes frequencies, percentages, Alpha Cronbach, arithmetic means, standard deviations, and Pearson correlation coefficient.

The research yielded the following results:

1) The level of volunteer work practiced by university students is low. The percentage of those who had previously performed volunteer work was (43.5%) of the research sample.

2) Lack of representation of Nalut University students in voluntary organizations at the local community level. Those who belong to a voluntary organization in the research sample were only (4.8%).

3) There is no statistically significant relationship (at the significance level of 0.05) between the two variables of the cognitive dimension of volunteering and the subject’s college.

4) There is an inverse relationship between the variables of the volunteer’s obstacles and the subject’s college.

5) A complete absence of a culture of volunteer work. And appreciation for its importance, whether at the university or in society.
