Employing Information Technology to Develop Scientific Research From the Perspective of Faculty Members at the School of Humanities At the Libyan Academy – Janzour

: A Descriptive and Analytical Study

Abstract

The study aims to identify the reality of employing information technology in scientific research from the point of view of faculty members at the School of Human Sciences at the Libyan Academy - Janzour. The study also aims to identify the difficulties facing the faculty members participating in the study when employing information technology in scientific research, and also to identify the most appropriate ways to benefit from information technology from their point of view, and the difficulties and challenges they face without using information technology in scientific research. The study contributed to developing solutions and proposals that raise the skills of faculty members compliant with information awareness. The study followed the descriptive analytical approach, and among the tools, this study used is a questionnaire that was distributed to the study community. The study concluded with a set of results, the most important of which is that information and communication technology has a fundamental role in scientific research because of the modern capabilities it provides open sources to researchers in terms of tools, engines, databases, electronic libraries, and digital repositories. One of the most important obstacles revealed by the results of the study, which prevents the employment of information technology and its use in scientific research, and which all participants agreed upon is the “power outage” at the time of preparing the study, which caused them many problems, including lack of coverage, also the theft of information in the absence of copyright and the establishment of legislation and laws regarding intellectual property. The study recommended that the Libyan Academy to take the initiative to pay attention to the digital library and subscribe to databases, global electronic resources, and scientific periodicals in order to facilitate the process of employing information technology in scientific research for faculty members, with the possibility of accessing it remotely through its website, and respecting the rights of Intellectual property to protect authors’ rights by implementing regulations and laws to limit the theft of available scientific works, and enhancing scientific publishing by opening opportunities for researchers to enable them to publish their scientific research, and motivating researchers to compete in the field of scientific research, and motivating researchers to compete in the field of scientific research in order to encourage them to innovate and create.
