Urban sprawl and its impact on vegetation cover in the municipality of Al-Qubba

Abstract

This research was concerned with studying urban encroachment on the vegetation cover in the municipality of Qobba, with the aim of knowing how urban encroachment affected the vegetation cover, and knowing the problems of urban plans that encroached on agricultural lands. To achieve these goals, the descriptive approach, the analytical approach, the quantitative approach, and some scientific methods were used. The study concluded with the following: Among the results we mention: The urban area has increased while the area of ​​agricultural land in the municipality of Al-Qubba has decreased, and the random plans in the municipality of Al-Qubba lack most of the infrastructure services that serve its residents, and the natural landscape of the random plans differs from the natural landscape of the approved plans, as we find that the approved plans are characterized by trees, and the random plans have moved from planting trees to Stone cultivation.

This research proposes to work on educating citizens in the municipality of Al-Qubba and other municipalities about the necessity of preserving agricultural lands, and introducing them to the problem of urban sprawl and its impact on agricultural lands, and plans must also be prepared by the state in order to get rid of slums.
