Cultural Values in February Newspaper

The aim of the study is to identify the cultural values included in the cultural file material in the Libyan February newspaper, the types of these values, the journalistic and literary arts associated with them, and their nature in terms of their use to emphasize some aspects or not in various humanitarian issues, and to know the sources that the newspaper relied on in publishing the relevant material and the elements of highlighting that accompany it, and the methods of presenting it.
The results of the study The priorities of publishing in the cultural file of February newspaper were represented by intellectual values first, then political values, followed by social values, then aesthetic values, then religious and moral values, and finally economic values. The art of news achieved the highest percentage among the types of journalistic arts, followed by the art of the article, and focused on political values first, then aesthetic values. The cultural file did not care about the arts of interviews and journalistic investigation except to a small extent, and there was no presence of the art of satirical drawing. The art of poetry took first place among the types of literary arts through social values first, then political values, then intellectual values, followed by the art of the story. The novel, as a literary art, was linked to social values in first place, then political values, then intellectual values, which were very weak. Reliance was placed on journalists in the first place as a source of information, at a rate of nearly half of the total material, then poets. Critics were a priority as a source of information in political values and at a small rate in intellectual values. The contribution of news agencies and the Internet as a source of information was very small, and there were no radio and television broadcasts, or readers’ mail as sources. The study concluded that (30.4%) of the material in the cultural file of the newspaper had an informative function, (20%) had an interpretation and analysis function, and (17%) Of the material, its function was to transfer cultures, while guidance and counseling accounted for (14.8%) of the total material. The nature of intellectual values was linked to diligence first, then history, then creativity and criticism, in close proportions, while political values focused on freedom first, then patriotism. As for what is related to power, election issues, the constitution, and reconciliation, interest in them is weak, as well as economic values. Religious and moral values focused on loyalty, faith, belief, and worship in equal proportions, while the social values material focused on love, optimism, and then sadness. In aesthetic values, the use of connotations was prominent in the first degree, then heritage, and the art of formation to the same extent. Personal images were used in political values first, then social values second, and the news image was used to the highest degree in intellectual values, then religious and moral, then aesthetic. The focus was on using the interpretive image and the personal image to an equal degree, and the most prominent type of frames that accompanied the cultural file material was the ordinary frame. The presentation style followed in more than half of the cultural file material was the objective style in the first degree, then the emotional and objective style in the second degree and at a rate of Close together
