Abstract
Abstract:
This research aims to understand media misinformation in the dissemination of information by Libyan media outlets. To achieve the study's objectives, the researcher employed a survey methodology using a descriptive approach. The research instrument was a questionnaire. The research was divided into four sections. The first section is dedicated to the methodological framework of the research, including the research problem and questions, its significance, objectives, methodology, sample, research population and scope, and the validity test. The second section addresses misinformation in detail, covering the relationship between media and misinformation, the concept of misinformation, its objectives, methods, and techniques, and types of information. The third section is dedicated to the applied study. The most important findings of the research were that the information disseminated by the media is not being presented accurately, and that information is being distorted to keep the country embroiled in political conflicts. The most frequently used media outlets for spreading misinformation are satellite channels, and the practices employed by the media in this disinformation campaign include inciting tribalism and exaggerating foreign intervention.
