    This study sought to identify the use of artificial intelligence in deepfakes, analyze a sample of images and videos published through digital media, identify Libyan electronic platforms that seek to combat deepfakes, monitor fake news and content, educate the public with the aim of spreading awareness and digital knowledge, and enhance the culture of verifying news and combating media misinformation, in addition to advocating for digital rights and safety. The study relied on the descriptive analytical approach to obtain sufficient information about the use of artificial intelligence in deepfakes.


    The study reached several results, the most important of which is that fabricated videos and photos contributed to falsifying many facts and spreading lies, despite the difference and diversity of the goals desired from it, which contributed to weakening the credibility of the media image. Also, Libyan electronic media platforms face technical and professional challenges that hinder the use of artificial intelligence in a greater and more professional manner. It is also clear that fact-checking is not just a technical task to search for the accuracy of information Rather, it is an ethical practice that guarantees the credibility of journalism and public confidence in it. The study recommended the need to enhance digital media awareness, with a focus on artificial intelligence mechanisms in producing fake news, by integrating specialized training programs into university curricula, and the need to develop policies and strategies that support Libyan electronic platforms by providing resources, capabilities, and training courses on the use of artificial intelligence programs and techniques in detecting deepfakes.
