- Abstract
The study aimed to identify the shortcomings in the Libyan media's handling of the Derna disaster, and reached a number of results, the most important of which are: The Libyan public's lack of dependence on Libyan satellite channels in following the news of the Derna disaster due to a number of accumulations and reasons, most notably the lack of credibility and neutrality, and being tools for political conflict more than they are media for awareness, opinion and truth formation, and means of unifying society arranged for their priorities, explaining its issues, and most importantly, a reliable means of knowing the truth and trusting that it is watching over its maintenance and defense. The study also found an important finding that the Libyan public relies more on social media than the Libyan media for crises.
