Abstract

ABSTRACT

This study, entitled (Methodological foundations in employing previous studies in media research), aimed to identify the value and importance of previous studies, the criteria and controls for their presentation and their place among the steps of scientific research, their sources and selection criteria, as well as the mistakes that researchers may make when presenting previous studies. To achieve this, the researcher followed the descriptive analytical method in his study, which analyzes concepts, interprets them, derives results, and proposes recommendations. At the end of his study, he reached a number of results, the most important of which are-

. Previous studies must be developed and presented according to a specific scientific context characterized by organization and logic, far from randomness and improvisation

. Previous studies give the researcher a sufficient idea about scientific research, so that the researcher becomes familiar with all matters related to the research, and information is provided to him from reliable sources

. The researcher must be careful to choose studies that are closely related to scientific research, and present them objectively, and in correct, sound, and error-free language

. It is imperative for the researcher to provide an objective scientific discussion of these studies, which includes identifying the areas of agreement and differences between them and his current study, and the scientific addition provided by his study.
