Abstract
The development and progress of societies comes as a result of their stability and cohesion, which represents a solid base for achieving sustainable developments. Perhaps the most important facts that achieve stability and developments are the compatibility of the political and social components in these societies, the achievement of the highest level of peaceful coexistence among them. In addition to the fixed, framed and defined media system with legal controls and professional practices that enable to deal with society's issues with high professionalism.
On the issue of national reconciliation and peaceful coexistence in Libya; the rule in media is to play their role and employ their capabilities in favor of the cause and support the values tolerance, reconciliation, culture of dialogue and promotion of peaceful coexistence, but the Libyan media's dealings were limited and weak, which clearly contributed to supporting hatred, violence and societal disintegration. Perhaps, this is what was indicated by the results of the study of evaluating , monitoring and surveying the use of Libyan media, where the analytical reading indicators came to indicate the limited media coverage of the manifestations of societal peace, the weakness of conciliatory discourse and even the perpetuation of hate speech and violence between the parties to conflict and the political and social components of Libyan society. Analytical readings showed the context in which Libyan media operates is the political conflict, the effects of wars and the multiplicity of political currents, in addition to the weakness of media system, composition and preparation of those in charge of communication, the absence of determinants of the organization of the official media, the multiplicity of ownership of the means by the multiplicity of political currents were all bets that weaken the contribution of the media discourse in promoting societal peace.
