Abstract:
The aim of this research is to identify the sizes of shots, their connotations, camera movements, shooting angles, and their suitability to the dramatic situation. This research is one of the descriptive studies that used the survey method in its analytical part. The research relied on the content analysis tool for a sample of Libyan series that were broadcast during the month of Ramadan 2024 through Salam Channel and Al-Wasat Channel. The sample was chosen in a systematic random way, 8 episodes for each series, which reached 18 episodes for both series. They were subjected to analysis, and the research reached a number of results: The most important of them are:
1- The “Cousin Daughters” series relied on the close-up shot and the medium shot, while the “Hassan and his daughters of law” series relied on the medium shot and the close-up shot, with the weakest percentage of the general shot for both series.
2 - The “view level angle” is the most used angle in the series “Hassan and his daughters of law” at 100%, and the series “The Cousin’s Daughters,” accounted for 80% of the total scenes of the series in the research sample, to make the viewer feel integrated with the image and believe in it because it is a neutral angle like the human eye. It gives him the feeling that he is seeing things directly.
3- The movement of the subject while the camera is still takes precedence over the camera movements used in the series sample as a whole, at a rate of 49.30% of the total scenes of the series in the research sample. This is due to the nature of the series and its treatment of the image of the Libyan family. It requires a kind of calm direction, and the camera movement came in sync with the movement of the subject. At a rate of 30.60%, finally, the camera movement with the subject being still recorded a rate of 20.10%. This can be explained by the fact that this diversity in camera movements helped support suspense and attract attention within the scene, and also helped not to feel bored due to the renewal of the scenes.
4- (Dialogue) came at the forefront of the sounds used in the research sample as a whole, at a rate of 42.15% of the total scenes of serials, the sample of the analytical study. This reliance was in favor of the series “Hassan and his daughters of law.” As for the series “The Cousin’s Daughters,” the soundtrack recordings recorded a high rate of 36.89%. It also showed that the reliance The two series had a variety of sounds, as they were not devoid of music and sound effects, which helped create a sense of realism and increase convincingness in displaying the visual image presented on the screen, not only artistically but also aesthetically.
