Abstract
This article provides an overview of the importance of traditional arts in crafts, in terms of their specific handicraft characteristics and the aesthetic and formative features that have elevated the craft from a traditional industry to a traditional art, as well as its social and economic role. Traditional crafts have diversified, including Libyan textiles, which carry within their features a diverse artistic repertoire of sensation, beauty, and spirit, radiating from memory and craft. This article presents the challenges of modernity in crafts in general, and in Libyan textiles in particular, without compromising their historical and cultural specificities.
